The top three tips of 2005 were:
1. Zip Compression in WS_FTP: How to automatically compress your files before transfer.
2. Backing Up Your FTP Sites: How to make a backup of your FTP site profiles (usernames, passwords, site addresses, etc.)
3. Importing Sites into WS_FTP: Import sites from WS_FTP LE and other clients into the latest versions of WS_FTP Home and WS_FTP Professional.

so, if you transferr in 'compression mode ('zip')do the files automatically 'unzip' upon the completion of the transferr, or what ???

No, unfortunately the files do not automatically unzip, but I think that's a feature request for a future release of FTP. The compression mode is helpful when transferring files that someone else will retrieve and less helpful when using FTP to post a web site or auction pictures.
