FTP Tip of the Week:
In both WS_FTP Pro and WS_FTP LE, there are three
different ways
to transfer a file:
1. Click one of the transfer arrows located between
the two window panes
2. Drag-and-drop the file from one pane to another
3. Simply double-click on the file [note: you can
customize the
'Double-Click
Action' to view a file rather than transferring it --
see 'Options',
'Advanced' to adjust this setting.]
Do you have a good FTP tip? Send us your tips
and we'll feature them in the
FTPplanet.com Newsletter. Send tips to webmaster@FTPplanet.com
with the
subject 'FTP Tips'.

Compaq has inherited a unique FTP site from the former
Digital Equipment
Crop. The site seems to have a full range of
information -- some highly
technical and a lot that is not. On this FTP
site you can find everything
from UNIX software and documentation, to the detailed
works of Shakespeare!
It's an FTP site that's definitely worth exploring.
Some sub-directories have 'readme' files, but most do
not. If you want to
know what you're looking at, a nice directory list
exists as an HTML
page (http://www.FTPplanet.com/nl.plx?051500:5).
You'll most likely want to
go to the '/pubs' directory. Once you're there, your
best bet is to just
start looking around.
Some highlights from the site include detailed works
from Shakespeare
(/pubs/data/shakespeare), a digital recipe book and a
list of recipes
(/pubs/recipes), and a nice list of games
(/pubs/games).
In general, there seems to be a little bit of
everything on this site. I'm
sure there is something that's of interest to you.
