FTP Tip of the Week:
Professor Michael Bowen, a WS_FTP LE user from Oxnard
College in Oxnard,
CA, provided this follow-up to last week's tip:
"There is a fourth way to
upload a file [using WS_FTP]. If you have a
Windows Explorer or 'My
Computer' window open at the same time as WS_FTP LE,
you can drag and drop
selected files (even multiple files or a whole
directory) from the Windows
Explorer/My Computer window to the right pane of
WS_FTP LE."
Do you have a good FTP tip? Send us your tips
and we'll feature them in the

The Papa Winsock FTP site is part of the Indiana State
University Web
system. This site is loaded with a bunch of shareware
and freeware programs
for all levels of Internet use.
When you first log in, you'll most likely want to go
straight to the
'/mirror' sub-directory. From there you'll find
well-labeled,
easy-to-navigate folders. In this directory you
find everything from
'/microsoft' to '/ws_ftp'. Rarely will you find
a 'readme' or 'index' file
but when you do they can be very helpful.
For advanced users, there is a '/winsock-1' directory
off the root
directory that might be of interest. There you
will find references to
archie, gopher, ping, and much more.
In general, Papa Winsock FTP doesn't have it all, but
does have a good
selection of some of the most popular downloads on the
Internet.
