FTP Tip of the Week:
From WS_FTP user Pat Drummond, 'I love the way the
WS_FTP optional log
file called "WS_FTP.LOG" is inserted into
the directory whenever I upload
files. By sorting my files in the left pane by date, I
can see easily which
ones have been modified since my last upload. I click
the first file, then
hold the SHIFT key while clicking the last file
(before WS_FTP.LOG) and
upload them.

FAVORITE FTP SITE
Do you know of a great FTP site? Send your favorite
FTP sites to webmaster@FTPplanet.com
with the subject 'Favorite FTP Sites', and we'll
feature them on FTPplanet.com.
The Washington University FTP site is kind of like
one-stop-shopping for FTP
archives. It successfully mirrors a number of other
FTP sites, allowing you
to download a wide variety of software, pictures,
music, and more.
When you first login to the site you'll find a number
of general directories
('/archive','/graphics', etc.). These directory names
are a bit vague and
do little to reveal their contents. The site does have
one index.html file,
which can be found in the main directory.
If you're looking for Windows shareware and freeware,
go to the
'/systems/ibmpc/' directory. From there you'll want to
go to either the
'/win95' or the '/umich.edu' directory. If you're
looking for a synthesized
midi file of Stayin' Alive by The Bee Gees, then
you'll want to go to
'/multimedia/midi/beegees'.
All-in-all, a fun site that's definitely worth
exploring.
