FTP Beginner's Tip: 'Copying FTP URLs'
A nice feature of Windows is that it allows you to copy and paste across
programs. When copying and pasting FTP URLs to WS_FTP's 'Host Name/Address' field, remember to leave off the 'ftp://' prefix.

Featured FTP Site:

Washington University's FTP Site:
http://www.FTPplanet.com/nl.plx?092800:2

This FTP site is absolutely full of .gifs and .jpegs.  The image subjects
are completely random covering everything from high tech computer generated
graphics to photos of British beer cans(?).

Some of you may remember Washington University as the Featured FTP site back in June of this year.  That review covered the general site and touched upon
its vast Windows shareware archive and FTP site mirrors.  Little did I know
that such a huge archive of images also existed on the site.

When you first login you'll want to go to '/multimedia/images'.  There
you'll find both a '/gif' and a '/jpg' directory.  In each directory, the
images are archived alphabetically, in lettered subdirectories. All of the
.gifs are indexed but the .jpgs are not.

You can literally spend days searching this site for interesting images.  If
you find an image of particular interest, let others know by posting it to
FTPplanet.com.

By the way, I still haven't found an Olympic FTP site.  If anyone knows of
one, please let me know and I'll put it up on FTPplanet.com.
