Featured FTP Tip: 'Remote Editing'
In WS_FTP Pro, the 'Edit' option allows you to edit a
file that's on a
remote site. Select a file from the 'remote site'
(right pane), right click,
and then select 'Edit' from the available options.
WS_FTP Pro will then
transfer the file to a temp directory on your local
system and open it with
the associated 'edit' application (ex. Notepad for
.txt files). When you
close that application, WS_FTP Pro will automatically
transfer the file back
to the remote FTP site.

For all our American readers, Super Bowl XXXV is big
news. Just in time for
Sunday's game, I have found one of the best football
FTP sites on the
Internet, John Troan's Football FTP site.
This site has some great stuff to get you ready for
the big game. It goes
back to 1994 with NFL team standings, weekly
write-ups, draft results, free
agency, team schedules, season timelines, and more.
It even has NFL stadium
stats with team, name, capacity, and playing surface.
When you first login, go to the '/pubs/football/pro'
directory. There
you'll find team rosters, listed by city, in the
'/roster' directory and
info on the current NFL season in the '/2000'
directory. Most of the other
directories are well-labeled and, for some reason,
many are duplicated in
lowercase and all caps (they go to the same place).
If you're at all interested in football, you have to
visit this site.

the Eden Etext
Archives FTP site that has pro football team records
and conference winners
