For those of you who have problems making an FTP
connection,
you'll be happy to know that a version of the
FTPplanet
Interactive Transfer Tutorial can now be found right
in
WS_FTP Pro 7.5.
Accessing the Interactive Tutorial within WS_FTP Pro
7.5
couldn't be easier. When you open WS_FTP Pro 7.5,
you're
taken directly to the 'Connect to Remote Host Window'.
Simply click on the 'Assistance Center' button and
then
'Tutorials' to start.
"I have been using Netscape Composer 4.7 until
recently,
when I switched to version 6.2. On the plus side,
Composer
is WYSIWIG, relatively easy to use, and free. On the
minus
side, repeated editing and deletions leave a lot of
extra
code with creates frustrating bugs, especially when
dealing
with text.
Composer 6.2 actually seems worse than 4.7 - I have to
edit
the code manually to clean out text formatting
commands that
the editor didn't catch when I made a deletion or
change. Not
only does the editor do a lousy job of cleaning up
redundant
code, but the screen doesn't seem to refresh properly
after
cutting and pasting.
In addition, you can no longer choose the font sizes
as with
4.7, but use the '+' and '-' keys to change the font
sizes,
further introducing more redundant code when font size
is
increased, then decreased.
Oh well, you get what you pay for. Conclusion:
Composer is
fine for "quick and dirty" work for a
personal web site, but
it's not suitable as a serious development tool."
