FTP TIP: Submitted Tip, Sort by Extension

This week's tip comes to us courtesy of FTPplanet community
member da_dawg:

"I have several sites that have large numbers of files: photos, mp3,
php, exe's, and more. The Sort by extension option is a major
advantage, because I don't have to search for the titles (which I
don't always recall), but by sorting the files using extensions, I
can find the php files or the exe files that need to be updated or
edited. It's an awesome feature!!!!"

To sort by extension, simply hold down the 'Ctrl' key and click on
the 'Name' header.

Da_dawg wins an FTPplanet 'Third Trip Around the Sun' t-shirt and
a copy of WS_FTP Pro. Do you have a good FTP tip? Post it to the
discussion forum and you could win a free copy of WS_FTP Pro 7.6!

FEATURE

Product: Rootsweb Freepages
Category: Free Web Hosting Sites
Overall Rating:  3 Planets (out of 5)
Total Number of Reviews: 1

Featured review:
John Hewes, 3 Planets

"Rootsweb.com offers Freepages as personal web space. It is free,
and unlimited. Rootsweb.com is the largest free genealogy site in the
world. However, in addition to hosting genealogy web pages, there are
communities for those who have interests in other subjects, such as
occupations, hobbies, etc. These pages are for personal use only, and
may not be used for commercial purposes.

I appreciate the fact that I can add unlimited pages to my website. I
don't care for the advertising banners which Rootsweb adds to my
pages. They recently increased the size of the banners to the width
of the entire screen. I feel these new banners detract from the overall
appearance of my site. The ads themselves seldom have anything to
do with my subject matter, either.

Overall, Freepages provide a great option for those who want to post
personal pages, and don't want to be hindered by the space
requirements of other services. If you can live with the ads, and don't
mind not having your own domain name, this might be something to
look into."

Because his review was featured in the newsletter, John won a free
copy of WS_FTP Pro 7.6! Post your review and you could also win!
