FEATURED
TIP:
What do
those
FTP
codes
mean?
Have you
ever
encountered
an error
when
trying
to
connect
to an
FTP
site and
seen a
cryptic
FTP
error
code?
What do
these
numbers
mean?
Whenever
you
attempt
to
communicate
with an
FTP
server,
it
returns
a
code to
your FTP
client,
such as
WS_FTP,
to let
you know
the
status
of your
request.
Most of
the
time,
the
communication
has no
problems
and WS_FTP
simply
records
it to
the FTP
log.
However
when
there is
an
error,
such as
a bad
userid
or
password,
WS_FTP
gives
you the
"uh-oh"
sound
and
reports
the
returned
error
code.
In
WS_FTP
Pro, you
will see
this
error
code as
red text
in the
Log
Window
accompanied
by a
brief
description.
For
example:
530
Invalid
userid/password.
If you
are
using
WS_FTP
LE
however,
you do
not have
the
benefit
of
the red
text or
the
brief
description.
If you
are
interested,
you can
find a
list of
the
FTP
codes
with
their
meanings
on
FTPplanet.com.
You can
also
search
on the
FTP code
using
FTPplanet.com's
search
box
(located
at the
top of
each
page).
This is
particularly
helpful
if
you're
trying
to get
to the
bottom
of a
problem
associated
with
that
particular
code.

have a
good FTP
tip?

This week's FTPplanet Site of the Week is from FTPplanet community
member, Neil Leacy:
"I though it might be time to present my own site at
from attending, for the last four years, the Summer Solstice gathering
at Stonehenge in England.
All being well I will add more images from this years sunrise on 21st
June, as well as video clips from all the sunrises."
Neil receives a limited edition FTPplanet.com t-shirt for being the
FTPplanet Site of the Week.

"I am
quite
satisfied
with
GeoCities
web
hosting.
Customer
support
is
excellent
and
prompt
response
to
questions
is the
norm.
Page

is
easy
to

and
very

I have
full
confidence
in
using
GeoCities
to
host
my
on-line
business.
My web
site
looks
quite
professional
and is
easy
to
maintain
(although
I'll
take
some
of the
credit
for
the
design
work.)
I have
been
using
them
for
the
past 5
months
and
they've
proven
to be
reliable
24/7.
GeoCities
It's
definitely
the
most
cost-effective
solution
for
small
start-ups
like
this
project.
With
GeoCities
you
don't
have
to be
a
technical
guru
to
create
a
noteworthy
web
presence
either!"
