"We started our site, www.drafthorsephotos.com, in June. It is
dedicated to displaying our photos of draft horses and draft
horse activities in our area. So far, there are about 500
photos on the site. We quickly found that we needed a way to
move large data files of photos up to our website. We found

FTP TIPS

This week, we have two user-submitted FTP tips. Tip number
one comes to us from oneeye:

"Using binary mode to transfer data. Data which is a ACSII
format will sometimes drop data when transfering between
different platforms. Using binary mode will ensure a complete
data transfer."

Tip number two is from Hannah, with a bonus tip from senior
member MrUser. Hannah says:

"If you are uploading a bunch of pages, images, or other files
at a time, select more than one file in your documents by
holding down "Ctrl" and clicking on another file. This will
save you a lot of trouble!"

MrUser adds:

"Good tip. But to take it one step further. If you have a list
of files you can make a selection in the list by selecting one
file and then further down the list (at the point where you
want the selection to end) hold the shift key down and select
the file you want to end with. This will select all the files
in between the first and second selections. Its a good way to
select items from a list where the content can be sorted by
date file type or whatever and you only want one the groups
selected instead of the entire list. This will save you the
trouble of having to select each individually."

"I bought this as my first MP3 player. It is basicly a 15Gb
harddrive, so stores data and music easily. Works well with
wma files. Rechargable battery lasts a lifetime! The software
to move data/music around is a bit poor and would work better
as a removable hard drive like most others.

Otherwise an excellent buy that I am sure I will be using
for years to come (or until I run out of space on it!)."
