FTP NEWS -- WS_FTP LE replaced with WS_FTP Home

The popular WS_FTP LE product has officially been replaced with a new
FTP client -- WS_FTP Home. This new product is the best FTP client for
your auction, digital photo, personal web site, music and video needs.

WS_FTP Home was designed based on feedback from a sampling of the
40 million WS_FTP users around the world and is the ideal product for at
home file transferring.

Q&A -- WS_FTP Home questions and answers

Question: Why has WS_FTP LE been replaced?
Answer:  There are two main reasons behind this decision. First, WS_FTP LE
is an older product and was designed to work with earlier versions of
Windows. As Microsoft releases new operating systems, WS_FTP LE
becomes less reliable.

Second, users of WS_FTP LE were clamoring for an updated interface, new
features and the option of a Service Agreement (for product updates and
technical support). The decision was made to create the new Ipswitch
WS_FTP Home rather than update WS_FTP LE.

Question: Is WS_FTP Home a free FTP client?
Answer: No, but neither was WS_FTP LE. Ipswitch made WS_FTP LE
available free of charge for educational users at degree-earning
institutions only. However, WS_FTP Home is available as a free thirty day
evaluation from Ipswitch's Web site:

Question: What happened to the WS_FTP LE tutorials that used to be on
FTPplanet.com?
Answer: They are still available. While we do not encourage the continued
use of WS_FTP LE, as it is an unsupported product and may not work
effectively on all operating systems, the following resources have been
archived on FTPplanet.com. Please note, that these WS_FTP LE resources
are out-dated and may not provide the exact information you need for the
version you are on.
