--> A Cautionary Tale

Download.com recently featured a short
cautionary tale on being careful while you
search.

The article talks of someone visiting a
"cracks" web site and getting a computer
full of spyware. Here is an excerpt:

"We went to a software "cracks" site I
thought was safe because I had used it
before for similar reasons. Unfortunately,
this time my friend wasn't so lucky. I assume
the site exploited a hole in my friend's
outdated version of Internet Explorer because
the site downloaded so many types and
iterations of spyware and adware, I can'
even begin to list them."

The bottom line is to make sure you keep
Internet Explorer updated (you can check if
you're on the latest version by visiting
